Meet and greet? Sounds good to me. I’ll start.
My name is Bekah. I’m twenty-one, born and raised in the same big-ass Connecticut house, and this blog is kind of my outlet for words and such since finishing up college this past December.
(And I’d like to point out that I’m from one of the country parts of Connecticut, not the white collar coastline.)
I can cook your momma’s fried chicken under the table, but that might be because I have a supernatural gift for frying. Nobody’s quite figured why.
I like food– tastes good, smells good, and cooking’s one of my few never-fail de-stressers– but more than eating food, I like making food for people. I don’t know if it’s because my mom’s half Italian or I’m not-so-secretly a Southern housewife in a Northern twentysomething’s body, but I’ll be damned if someone isn’t fed and happy. And you know what the best food for happy people is?
Food that isn’t full of itself.
Things you will not find on this blog: vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, light, and the words “meatless Monday”. Your paleo, your ovo-lacto, and your flexitarian, whatever the hell those all are. I make food, not a list of side effects. And if you’re staring at a slice of chocolate cake thinking ‘how many calories/fats/grams of sugar are in this’, the answer is ‘it doesn’t matter’ and PS, you’re doing food wrong.
If any of that sounds like your thing, stick around.
