Meet and greet?  Sounds good to me.  I’ll start.

My name is Bekah.  I’m twenty-one, born and raised in the same big-ass Connecticut house, and this blog is kind of my outlet for words and such since finishing up college this past December.

(And I’d like to point out that I’m from one of the country parts of Connecticut, not the white collar coastline.)

I can cook your momma’s fried chicken under the table, but that might be because I have a supernatural gift for frying.  Nobody’s quite figured why.

I like food– tastes good, smells good, and cooking’s one of my few never-fail de-stressers– but more than eating food, I like making food for people.  I don’t know if it’s because my mom’s half Italian or I’m not-so-secretly a Southern housewife in a Northern twentysomething’s body, but I’ll be damned if someone isn’t fed and happy.  And you know what the best food for happy people is?

Food that isn’t full of itself.

Things you will not find on this blog: vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, light, and the words “meatless Monday”.  Your paleo, your ovo-lacto, and your flexitarian, whatever the hell those all are.  I make food, not a list of side effects.  And if you’re staring at a slice of chocolate cake thinking ‘how many calories/fats/grams of sugar are in this’, the answer is ‘it doesn’t matter’ and PS, you’re doing food wrong.

If any of that sounds like your thing, stick around.

  1. Hey Bekah!

True story: I read the notification about this comment while I was at work and squealed audibly. That’s how excited I was for these warm fuzzy feelings of blogging. Thank you! I’m so honored. /flush

      • Ha ha I like this!! 🙂 I can totally relate!! In the few weeks I’m blogging I get excited a lot – about every follower and every comment 😉 My family and some friends don’t really understand my excitment, but its their fault because it simple makes sooo much fun!! Hope to read a lot more of you!

  2. I think am in love with you! I could read the last paragraph of this page like 10 times in a row. Especially “I make food, not a list of side effects” and the part about staring at chocolate cake and wondering about the calories. I must admit I do that at times, but overall if it’s got sugar in it, just dive in. Life’s too short. Lovin your blog! 🙂

Life IS too short! I’d much rather spend that time eating the things I actually want to eat, not what everyone says is super good for me right now. Viva la food!

I’m super glad you like the blog so far! Still a baby fledgling thing right now, but tastiness is definitely on the horizon. 😀

  3. Thanks for following my blog!! I love your no-nonesense way of looking at and talking about food!! I’m like you…just into making good food – keep it up 🙂

Squeee I’m glad you’re enjoying my little hatchling here! I like the blend you have going on your blog between recipes and food adventures, and I’m excited to keep reading along with them.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Thanks so much for the award, it’s an honor! I love your blog, everything you make looks DELICIOUS! Also, I feel like your about section could pretty much be about me too! I’m really glad I found your blog, I can’t wait to see what make next!

You’re very welcome– you earned it! And my blog humbly accepts your lovin’s and I sit over here squeeing like a small child. I’m excited to see more from you, keep it up!! :3
